Guide for authors
Connections: The Quarterly Journal is the flagship publication of the Partnership for Peace Consortium of Defense Academies and Security Studies Institutes (PfPC). Managed by the PfPC Editorial Board, it presents in-depth studies on current Euroatlantic security issues, addressing one or the current priority themes. Submissions covering other themes can be included on the discretion of the Editorial Board.
Connections is an open-access journal, published both in paper and online, in English and translated into Russian.
We do not have any article processing or submission charges nor fees to authors.
Before submitting your paper, please acquaint yourself with the journal ethics policy, policy on conflicts of interest, and copyright policy.
We accept original manuscripts in the range of 4,000 to 7,000 words, in the English language, written in a lucid style for a target audience of informed defense and security affairs practitioners and academics. All manuscripts should be prepared using the template below and submitted via the dedicated Submission Management website (first time users need tocreate an account first).
They should feature the author’s name, current institutional affiliation, and a provisional title at the top of the first page, and should include footnotes where necessary. For questions on footnotes and references, please refer to the Chicago Manual of Style for notes.
In reviewing a submission, we look for:
- original research, not considered for publication elsewhere
- clearly defined hypothesis or a central question
- article objectivity
- good use of references - submissions should refer to relevant peer-reviewed publications. In addition, references to newspaper articles, online videos, and any other secondary research is allowed
- preferably, exploring one subject in detail rather than many things broadly.
Once a paper is accepted for publication, the author/s will be asked to sign a copyright release agreement.
The Consortium’s family of publications is available at no cost. If you would like to order printed copies for your library, or if you have questions regarding the Consortium’s publications, please contact the PfPC Operations Staff using the contact information on this site.
